State Certified Nurse Aide Training

The Program at a glance:
This class is a blend of 36 hours of instructional study using the internet, 25 hours of supervised Lab practice and mastery of Nurse Aide Skills, and two eight hour days of on-site clinical experiences. Once all components are completed successfully, you will be eligible to take the Kentucky State certification test .

The program is largely self-paced, allowing you to learn and review at your convenience. You never miss a class. The Instructional Study phase of the program is accessible on any computer that can reach the internet 24/7 throughout the time you are enrolled.

Maximum class size is 15 students.

Registration Requirements

• Participants must be at least 17 years old.
• High School Diploma, GED ( proof required)
• Reading level of at least 7th grade (proof re-quired)
• Clear record for (a) felonies (b) elder abuse
• Negative TB skin test within the past 12 months (proof required)
• You are strongly recommended to volunteer at a nursing home before you sign up for this class.

Books will be available on Day One. Loner Blood Pressure kits will be available at Sarah’s Place on Day One. Optional purchase of blood pressure kits is available through

Kentucky requires all Nurse Aide students to complete 75 hours of instruction. The 36 hours of internet study will be tracked daily, and can be completed at your own pace. The 25 hours of supervised Lab practice /clinical skills are scheduled on each Thursday at Sarah’s Place . Attendance will be tracked by sign-in.

The two, eight hour clinical site days will be scheduled once you have learned the Nurse Aide clinical skills successfully, These two days are designed to give you experience in providing basic nursing care, and will be tracked by sign-in.

You are welcome to work in the clinical lab at Sarah’s Place outside of scheduled times. Just call and make an appointment.
